If someone suffers from kidney failure, also known as end-stage kidney disease (ESRD), he needs either dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive. Kidney transplantation or renal transplantation is considered the best treatment option for people with kidney failure, which can increase the chances of a longer, healthier life. A kidney transplant/ Renal Transplant can be a life-changing opportunity for patient of kidney failure. One may get a kidney transplant if his kidneys are about to fail, either before he needs to start dialysis or he can start dialysis while waiting for a kidney transplant.

A kidney transplant / Renal Transplant are considered safe and are usually very successful. A successful kidney transplant depends on how healthy the patient is before the transplant, taking care of himself after the transplant, and following his doctor’s instructions carefully after the kidney transplantation.

Research has shown that patients who receive a kidney for transplantation from a living donor live longer than patients who receive a kidney for transplantation from a deceased donor (a donor, who has just died). On average, live kidney donor transplants has life expectancy about 15 to 20 years after the transplant, and late kidney donor transplants has life expectancy about 10 to 15 years.

Kidney Transplant Doctor

The Urologist is the Surgeon, who serves as the kidney transplant doctor, while on the physician side the nephrologist has an important role as a kidney transplant doctor.

The kidney transplant doctor follows many steps, when someone needs to take to prepare for a kidney transplant. First, the patient needs to go to a transplant centre to determine whether he is ready for a kidney transplant. If the evaluation team of kidney transplant doctors decides that the patient is ready. The next step is to find a kidney match that the transplant team will help the patient. There are other things patient needs to prepare for, e.g. B. Paying for his transplant and paying for the medication himself will take afterwards.

Kidney Transplant Procedure & Risk

A kidney transplant procedure involves inserting a healthy kidney into the body where it can perform all of the functions, where a failed kidney (nonfunctioning kidney) cannot perform properly. The new kidney is located on the lower right or left side of the lower abdomen, which is surgically connected to the nearby blood vessels. When urologist puts the kidney in this position, then the kidney can be easily connected to the blood vessels and bladder. The vein and artery of the patient’s new kidney are connected to the vein and artery. The ureter of the new kidney is attached to the bladder so that the urine can excrete from the body. The diseased kidneys are not removed from the patient. There are three conditions, when the diseased kidneys may need to be removed:

  • Repeated infection that could spread to the transplanted kidney
  • Uncontrollable high blood pressure due to original kidneys
  • Backpressure of  urine to the kidneys (a condition called reflux)

Kidney Transplant is one of the major operations when Govt of Pakistan allow transplanting after getting doner then there will be no risk otherwise Govt authorities can take serious action as its illegal procedure without Govt permission.
